NES Open a GREAT Success

Our 1st Annual NES Open Golf and Tennis Event was a great success. The weather turned out to be beautiful, even after a chilly start. The sun was shining and tennis players and NES Open logo 3ingolfers alike hit the courts and course for a fantastic day!

On behalf of the NESF Boar, we want to thank everyone who participated, played and volunteered. And of course to our SPECTACULAR Sponsors. This event would NOT have been possible with out all of you.

Special appreciation goes out to Sam Spaulding and Lesly Lyons for all their hard work!

We will keep you posted on plans for next year!

$10,000 in Teach Grants Awarded!

Thanks to your generosity, the NES Foundation has been able to fund Teacher Grants for the VERY first time! We were so excited to request from the faculty formal applications for educational grants. We had 10 applications and were able to award 7 grants!

Our inaugural grant recipients include:

  • Mrs. Heflin (on behalf of the entire first grade) for the Units of Study for Teaching Writing from Lucy Calkins
  • Mrs. Love for Math Reads (targeting both 1st grade multi-age classes + the ability to share with all 1st grade classrooms)
  • Mrs. Wood for Math Reads (targeting the 2nd grade multi-age class + the ability to share with all 2nd grade classrooms)
  • Third grade team to enhance learning and teaching through ELMO document cameras (6 total)
  • Mrs. Wood for a document camera to enhance the teaching of writing and math problem solving (for the 2nd grade multi-age class & for all 2nd grade teachers to share)
  • Mrs. Kordel for the Common Core State Library – Grade 1 (two sets of books to be shared across all 1st grade classrooms)
  • Ms. Pfleger & Ms. Mackey for the D.R.E.A.M. Team

In addition to the grants, the Foundation has also funded the following in its first 3 years:

  • Annual salary for a full-time Technology teacher
  • $20K in curriculum enhancements requested by Mrs. Parks
  • $10K in supplemental educational programs and materials through the first round of Teacher Grants

As Nickjack continues to grow, we have much more to accomplish as we strive to provide the best educational experience to all of our students. Attending a NES Foundation event such as the upcoming Casino Night  or Golf Tournament  can help us achieve even more this year.

Together, we can do great things!
